DRI has appointed Georgina McMahon as Executive Assistant on the DAH programme.
The Digital Arts and Humanities Structured PhD (DAH) programme is a four-year structured doctoral research-training programme designed to enable students to carry out research in the arts and humanities at the highest level using new media and computer technologies. The programme is a collaboration between National University of Ireland, Galway, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Queen's University Belfast, Royal Irish Academy, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, and University of Ulster. The DRI is the Royal Irish Academy's co-ordinating body in the DAH programme, and contributes to the programme through knowledge transfer events, co-ordination, and support.
Georgina will provide administrative support for the delivery of outreach, educational and skills training events on behalf of the DRI/RIA for the DAH programme which includes support for the Research Data/DAH legacy project. This project is creating workflows for ingesting research data created by PhD students in the DAH programme as a part of their doctoral research. Participants will organise their research data into collections, and ingest it in the Digital Repository of Ireland for long term preservation and access.
Georgina is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and prior to DRI, she worked in the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland (RSAI) where she analysed and digitised several hundred items from their extensive lantern slide collection. She has also worked as arts administrator and art dealer, and as an assistant researcher for a University of Leicester project. Read her full bio here.
