‘Transforming Archives’ is an online series of workshops organised by the Intersections, Feminism, Technology and Digital Humanities (IFTe) networking project that seek to examine the nature of archives from an intersectional feminist perspective.

‘Transforming Archives’ is an online series of workshops organised by the Intersections, Feminism, Technology and Digital Humanities (IFTe) networking project, funded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

This set of workshops seeks to examine the nature of archives from an intersectional feminist perspective, looking to explore and understand archives, curation, and archiving practices that reflect these principles. The workshops will bring together archivists, artists, curators, community organisations, and academics to identify the issues associated with digital archiving and to explore alternative models of curation, collection, storage, expression, and interaction for these practices. The IFTe network sees feminist archiving as a means to amplify, record, and safeguard marginalised voices, and as a method that pushes the boundaries of what we think archives are and what they should consist of.

The first two workshops will showcase various alternative archives based on two themes – the first on community and institutional collaboration and the second on activist archiving practice. The workshops will consist of talks by the speakers, followed by a comfort break, a Q&A session, breakout rooms, and group discussion and wrap-up. The third workshop will be a hands-on feminist archiving activity. The series will conclude with a public talk hosted by the IFTe network partner organisation, the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).

Registration is free but tickets are limited so advance registration in advised.
