DRI will support students and members to attend IDCC 2020 in Dublin
DRI will support students and members to attend the conference, which has the theme ‘Collective Curation: the many hands that make data work’

In February 2020, the DRI team joins forces with the Digital Curation Centre to run the International Digital Curation Conference 2020. To ensure that as many students and DRI members as possible can join us there, we offered a selection of bursaries for registration costs.
We are thrilled to announce that the five winners of DRI’s student bursaries covering the full cost of registration, are: Aoife Mcgrath, Ashley Williams, and Chin-Yi Hu of University College Dublin; Cecilia Kareem of University College Cork; and Kate Dempsey of National University of Ireland, Galway.
MSc student Aoife Mcgrath commented that she is looking forward to this ‘opportunity to hear leading practitioners from around the world discuss the practicalities and current issues and trends in this developing discipline and in particular on research data management and data management plans’. In the spirit of openness, UCD postgraduate Ashley Williams committed to sharing the notes and knowledge gained from IDCC with coursemates in the MA in Archives and Records Management.

Cork-based Cecilia Kareem anticipated the networking opportunities offered by the conference:
Working in an archive can be a solitary experience so attending the International Digital Curation Conference will afford me the opportunity to engage with other professionals and give me the confidence to share any learning in outreach/in-reach initiatives – be it within the University or the Community.

The DRI member who will receive a bursary to attend IDCC is Clare Lymer of The National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL), who welcomed the news of her bursary:
Digital curation is highly relevant to NIVAL as we hope to ensure global access and long-term preservation of our digital assets while engaging and supporting researchers with efficient access to our unique collections. This bursary from the DRI provides NIVAL with the valuable opportunity to attend the IDCC 2020, where we can benefit from up-to-date knowledge and shared expertise with peer organisations as we continue to develop our digital collections.
DRI Director Natalie Harrower commented:
We are excited about co-organising and hosting the Digital Curation Centre’s annual conference in Dublin, because it continues our rich collaborations on international projects with DCC staff, and importantly because it brings a forum for the exchange of global expertise in digital curation and data management to Ireland’s doorstep. In particular, we would like to support the participation of students working on issues related to the data lifecycle, so that they can incorporate the latest research and best practices into the next stage of their career, and collectively help to ensure that Irish institutions are at the forefront of data management, as we all face the road towards truly Open Science. We’re pleased that these bursaries will enable a good number of students to attend IDCC2020.
