The outline programme for the Research Data Alliance 7th Plenary Meeting is now available.

The outline programme for the 7th Research Data Alliance (RDA) Plenary meeting is now available online. The 7th Plenary will be hosted and co-organised by the Japan Science and Technology Agency in Tokyo from the 1st to the 3rd of March 2016, under the theme “Making data sharing work in the era of Open Science”.

The Research Data Alliance holds its plenary meeting every six months in a different region around the world. These three-day working meetings bring together a unique community of data scientists, librarians, computer and domain researchers, policy makers and strategists to meet and discuss concrete actions and plans. The Digital Repository of Ireland were co-organisers of the Plenary in March 2014, which was hosted in Dublin at Croke Park

RDA Europe is the European plug-in to the Research Data Alliance (RDA). The goal of RDA is to accelerate international data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange. This is achieved through the development, adoption, and deployment of infrastructure, policy, practice, standards, and other deliverables. The emphasis of RDA is adoption and deployment as the result of focused, short-term effort.

RDA 3 is the third phase of RDA Europe, and DRI are partners in this phase via an Horizon 2020 Coordinating and Support Activity (CSA) grant. Our Director Dr. Natalie Harrower is on the Board of Directors and our Digital Archivist Rebecca Grant is the European co-chair of the Archives and Records Professionals for Research Data Interest Group

Early-bird registration for the conference is available until 31 January. To register, go to: https://rd-alliance.org/plenary-meetings/seventh-plenary/registration.html

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
