The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is the coordinating body for the National Open Research Forum (NORF), the driving force behind the open research agenda in Ireland. Since 2022, DRI has supported NORF in administering the NORF Open Research Fund provided by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) to deliver the actions outlined in the National Action Plan for Open Research 2022-2030. Publication of NORFest 2023 Report

NORF is pleased to share the publication of the NORFest 2023 Report. This report arises from Ireland’s inaugural National Open Research Festival (#NORFest2023), a two-day event hosted by the National Open Research Festival (NORF) on Thursday, 2 November and Friday, 3 November 2023 at the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin, with the support of the DRI.

CORD Partnership Hosted Webinar on Developing Research Partnerships

On Thursday 2 May, the Criminal justice Open Research Dialogue (CORD) Partnership hosted its second event of 2024. Funded by NORF under the Open Research Fund Call 2023, CORD is bringing its partners together for three events in 2024 to determine collectively how best to embed a culture of interdisciplinary open research in criminal justice in Ireland.

A Case Study: Investing in Open Scholarly Infrastructure in Ireland Will Save Time and Money. It’ll Also Be Good for Research

A new blog by Phill Jones, co-founder of MoreBrains Consulting Cooperative, reflects on the move towards national open research strategies and national PID strategies that are currently being developed in Ireland. This blog post coincides with the launch of a cost-benefit analysis commissioned by NORF and written by MoreBrains Cooperative, that estimates the return on investment for PID implementations at higher education institutions in Ireland.

Efficiency and Insight: A Cost-benefit Analysis for a Central Service to Support Persistent Identifier Implementation in Ireland

The National Open Research Forum has launched the publication Efficiency and Insight: A cost-benefit analysis for a central support service to support persistent identifier implementation in the Republic of Ireland. This is the first of two publications in the NORF-led project to produce a National Persistent Identifier (PID) Roadmap. 

Advancing a Direction for Research Assessment: Report Now Available 

We are delighted to share that the ‘Advancing a shared direction for research assessment’ report is now available. This report was produced as part of a National Research Integrity Forum (NRIF) and NORF workshop which took place in November 2023. The Report is available open access in the DRI Repository

Irish PID Roadmap Project – Community Events

MoreBrains Cooperative has been working with NORF to develop a national persistent identifier (PID) strategy roadmap for Ireland. Community consultation is a critical element of this project, NORF has been running a series of events to provide an update on their progress and gather feedback from the Irish research community.

NORF is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Science through the Higher Education Authority (HEA). It is coordinated by the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI), which is headquartered under the legal entity of the Royal Irish Academy.
