The 24th Plenary meeting of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) is a fully virtual conference open to everyone interested in evolving good practice in research data management. The theme of this season’s conference is Data for Emerging Technologies and will feature keynote presentations celebrating the power of collective action in the Open Science movement as well as working meetings for community Interest and Working Groups. Sessions will run from April 7th to 11th, at times suitable for participants around the globe. If you’re curious to find out more about RDA activities and outputs, the Plenary presents a great opportunity to join in the conversation!
Since the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) and INSIGHT (Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics) co-hosted the 3rd RDA Plenary meeting in Dublin in 2014, and DRI committed to supporting the RDA in Ireland Regional Group in 2023, staff have been active and enthusiastic participants in the biannual event. We asked our colleagues to share the sessions they’re most looking forward to this season:

Ailís O’Carroll, Open Research Support Officer (NORF)

Session: RDA TIGER: Community insights on use, adoption and impact of RDA Outputs
Tuesday, 8 April 2025, 11:00-12:00 UTC
“I’m really looking forward to joining the ‘RDA Tiger: Community insights on use, adoption and impact of RDA Outputs’ session. I’ve enjoyed seeing the work supported by the RDA Tiger Project and this is an opportunity to draw inspiration from the practical application of RDA’s outputs. It also shows the impact of these standards across the world and what we can do in Ireland to make sure that we are implementing best practice.”

Beth Knazook, Research Data Project Manager (DRI)
Session: Evaluation of Research: Current and Future Activities
Thursday, 10 April 2025, 14:00-15:30 UTC
“At the last RDA Plenary, I got pulled into a session for the Evaluation of Research Interest Group on ‘Leveraging Liaisons’ which explored the need to engage different disciplinary perspectives in developing evaluation frameworks. Having recently launched the RDA Ambassadors Coordination Group, it seemed like there would be a good opportunity for collaboration. I anticipate further discussion on that theme in this year’s session and I hope to take away some ideas for an RDA in Europe regional webinar later this year.”
