DRI is pleased to announce that John McDonough has been elected as Chair of the DRI Board.

We are very pleased to announce that John McDonough, University Librarian for Dublin City University, has been elected as Chair of the DRI Board.

John commented:

I am delighted to serve as Chair of the Board of the DRI.  This is another exciting chapter in the development of the DRI, in terms of its services, infrastructure and impact on Ireland’s cultural heritage and research data management landscape.

DRI director Natalie Harrower welcomed his appointment:

John has been a committed member of DRI’s Board for several years, and I am so pleased that he has been elected to chair the Board. John in many ways presents the ‘perfect package’ for the Digital Repository of Ireland, because of his expertise across the various sectors from which DRI draws its membership. As University Librarian at DCU, he can advise directly on issues around research data management in the higher education sector, while also drawing on his experience in cultural heritage, records, and archives from his previous role as Director of Ireland’s National Archives. I would like to thank John for accepting this role.

I would also like to thank Prof. Jane Ohlmeyer for serving as interim chair for the last year; her leadership and vision has been key to this phase of DRI’s growth.

The DRI looks forward to working with John as Chair of the Board.

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
