The Digital Repository of Ireland is pleased to invite you to an introductory event on Europeana, free but registration required.
Celebrating the first collection to be aggregated to Europeana via the Digital Repository of Ireland, DRI is pleased to invite you to an introductory event on Europeana. This free event will bring together speakers with a variety of expertise to discuss the benefits of both contributing data to Europeana and using Europeana as a researcher.
Date: Thursday, 21 November 2019
Location: Trinity Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin
Since January 2019, DRI has been the Irish partner in Europeana’s Common Culture Project, which aims to update 4 million records currently on Europeana, and to add 1.9 million new records to the platform. As part of the project, DRI have developed an aggregation service, which will allow Irish cultural heritage institutions to make their collections available on Europeana. In October 2019, we were thrilled to be announced as an accredited Irish national aggregator during the Europeana Aggregator Forum in Stockholm.
The event will outline the benefits of contributing material to Europeana and will guide participants through the process of submitting collections to Europeana using the DRI’s aggregation service. It will celebrate the first collection published to Europeana, the Jacobs Biscuit Factory Photographic Archive. The day will also feature talks from Killian Downing, Member Council Member, Europeana Network Association and Deborah Thorpe, DRI Education and Outreach Manager, on Europeana as a source of research data.
The event is geared towards professionals in cultural heritage institutions who are interested in learning more about Europeana. It will be equally interesting for researchers who are considering reusing material on Europeana and/or contributing their research data to the platform.
Registration is free, but booking is essential. Please register using Eventbrite.
