We are pleased to welcome Beth Knazook in her new role as Project Manager, Research Data at the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) where she will be working on the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Future project, an EU-funded initiative to give European researchers wide access to FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) data and related services. DRI’s role in EOSC Future is to support the responsibilities of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in widening the awareness and engagement in EOSC by underrepresented communities. Beth will also work on building DRI’s capacity for best practice in research data management (RDM) in line with national and international guidelines on Open Science and data management, with particular attention to developments in Ireland’s National Open Research Forum (NORF).
Beth was previously the Preservation Coordinator for the Portage Network, an organisation established by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries to foster a national research data culture through the provision of research data services and infrastructure. She has also worked as the Digitisation Manager for Huron County Library and Curator of Special Collections for Ryerson University Library. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Art and Visual Culture at Western University, in London, Canada, focusing on the introduction of photography into book illustration in nineteenth-century Canada.
We look forward to working with Beth in developing organisational, national, and European capacity in research data sharing and re-use across research domains and sectors.
