We are very pleased to announce that Dr Áine Madden has been appointed as the Operations and Communications Manager at the Digital Repository of Ireland.

We are very pleased to announce that Dr Áine Madden has been appointed as the Operations and Communications Manager at the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI).

The Operations and Communications Manager is a new role that was created to reflect DRI’s growth as well as its evolving function in the Irish research ecosystem. As new members join the DRI and existing members build their digital footprint and capacity for preservation, the demand for future planning and strengthened communications around DRI offerings has also grown. This new role will help to ensure DRI’s scalability and responsiveness to the communities it serves, which are drawn from organisations large and small across research, education, culture, libraries and archives, and community groups.

Áine comes from a humanities research background and has a PhD in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin. She also holds professional qualifications in digital marketing, digital preservation skills, and teaching.

She has worked in the academic publishing sector as a project manager, arts and cultural organisations in communications, programme management, and event management roles, and as a teacher at primary, secondary, and third levels.

She joined the DRI in January 2020 as Programme Manager. In this role, she worked with the DRI Director in the day-to-day running, project planning, scheduling, and administration of the DRI and DRI partner projects. She has also held the positions of Acting Education and Outreach Manager at DRI, where she was responsible for leading the outreach and training programme, and Communications and Engagement Coordinator, where she was responsible for the external presentation and communications of DRI and for running public engagement events. Áine will bring her experience of contributing to the smooth operations of DRI in a variety of roles to the Operations and Communications Manager position.

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
