We are pleased to announce that Mashal Ahmad will continue with DRI as part of the our ‘Digital Preservation of Reproductive Health Resources: Archiving the 8th’ project.
We are pleased to announce that Mashal Ahmad will continue with the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) in a new role. Mashal has worked with DRI as a Software Developer based in Trinity College Dublin since November 2019 under the Europeana Common Culture project, where she was responsible for enhancing the DRI’s Europeana Aggregation services and adding support for 3D content. She now moves to a new role in the same team where she will be working on adding support for archiving social media content to the DRI platform as part of the Wellcome Trust funded project ‘Digital Preservation of Reproductive Health Resources: Archiving the 8th’. This project aims to provide long-term preservation and access to the many at-risk archives generated by grassroots women’s reproductive health movements during the campaign to repeal the 8th Amendment. The three-year project was launched in 2020 and is funded by a grant of €383,481.00 from the Wellcome Trust. It is led by the DRI partner institutes Trinity College Dublin, Maynooth University, and the Royal Irish Academy in collaboration with a number of additional content partners.
Mashal commented on her new appointment:
I feel exceptionally happy and excited to start this new role where I will get the opportunity to expand my skills. I joined DRI in November 2019 and since then it has been an incredible journey of collaborating with people of different backgrounds and a great source of learning covering different aspects. I am thankful to our Director Natalie Harrower for giving me another opportunity to proceed on this journey and furthermore the entire team of DRI for their support, guidance, and excellent working environment.
We look forward to working with Mashal on preserving the social and cultural record of an important moment in contemporary Irish history.
