DRI is hiring – Training Manager and Digital Archivist

Applications are invited for the position of Training Manager and Digital Archivist, as part of the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) team headquartered at the Royal Irish Academy (RIA).

This is a fixed-term contract (24 months) to provide advice and hands-on assistance to DRI members to facilitate the ingest, preservation, and publication of their collections online.

The Training Manager and Digital Archivist responsibilities are:

Training:

  • Chairing a DRI training working group that will oversee the development and roll-out of a five-year training plan that aligns with DRI’s new strategic plan
  • Actively understanding membership and broader stakeholder requirements in terms of training and collections to enable members to deposit quality collections in line with internal workflows and organisational policy
  • Delivering training workshops/seminars on using the repository, ingest, and data preparation and cleaning to a range of members with varying skill levels
  • Assisting members with issues related to collection preparation (e.g. structure, metadata, file types)
  • Developing a training plan that focuses on workflows and using data preparation and cleaning tools to improve collections for batch ingest
  • Ensuring DRI training meets accessibility requirements
  • Deliver user interface/user experience workshops, to gather input for training and development plans

Digital Archives:

  • Providing expert advice to depositors on DRI’s format, metadata and licensing guidelines and other policies; administering user accounts and responding to depositor queries
  • Cleaning metadata relating to digitised and born-digital cultural heritage and social science collections
  • Liaising with DRI’s technical team and depositors to troubleshoot ingesting of collections and facilitate efficient publication of collections
  • Participating in DRI taskforces and other working groups
  • Presenting the work of DRI at public events and professional conferences
  • Developing and documenting DRI’s internal digital archiving workflows
  • Any other duties as directed

Salary: Salary is on the Senior Programme Manager Scale, €52,588 – €69,884.
