DRI is Awarded a FAIR-IMPACT Grant for Sharing Data Policies in FAIRsharing

Submitted on 20th June 2024

The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant to participate in a FAIR-IMPACT support action to ‘Improve the availability and machine readability of data policies with FAIRsharing‘.

The goal of this support action is to coordinate the registration of data policies from stakeholders in various countries/regions/domains with the FAIRsharing registry, helping to leverage this shared pool of information for ongoing policy monitoring activities. DRI staff will benefit from specialised training resources created by FAIRsharing, which we look forward to being able to share with members and the broader Irish research community in a webinar and workshop later this summer.

Transparency underpins trust and reliability in both preservation activities and in Open Research more broadly, so it makes a lot of sense for DRI to get involved in support activities that help to ensure the transparency of policies that govern these domains. We are very pleased to be committing effort towards helping organisations, projects and funders in the Irish community to utilise and enrich the FAIRsharing registry.

How can you find DRI policies in FAIRsharing?

As a leading preservation repository, DRI’s policies largely govern repository actions. These are therefore discoverable as part of our FAIRsharing Repository Record.

Our staff are located at three institutions (Royal Irish Academy, Maynooth University and Trinity College Dublin) which also have institutional data sharing policies. DRI will be looking to connect with our colleagues in the coming months, to help make more transparent the practices which govern how we engage in good research data management in our day-to-day activities.
