The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) has formed its first Expert Advisory Group (EAG) which will sit in November 2021.

The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) has formed its first Expert Advisory Group (EAG) which will sit in November 2021. The EAG is a forum for DRI staff to draw in a formal way on national and international expertise. As such, it is an important method of keeping DRI up to date with the best national and international archival practices, repository developments, and the needs of cultural heritage, humanities and social sciences, and research communities. Individuals from repositories and archives, cultural heritage, research and education, humanities and social sciences, legal, technical, and creative domains were nominated by DRI staff and invited to sit on the panel and we are delighted that so many of our nominated people were in a position to take a seat within the group.

Director Natalie Harrower said:

We are truly fortunate to be able to draw on the wealth of expertise brought together in this amazing group of individuals, and we are grateful for the generosity they have shown in agreeing to join this new group. When DRI was first initiated in 2011, we had an excellent International Advisory Group to direct us toward global best practice, and a passionate, engaged national Stakeholder Advisory Group to guide us in creating a repository fit for Ireland’s social and cultural heritage. A decade on, we remain committed to best practices, and to meeting and indeed helping to develop community requirements. We are privileged to have a brand new Expert Advisory Group to accompany us on this next stage of our journey.

The EAG will sit annually each November and as an advisory group, it is an important addition to DRI’s governance and management structure. You can find a full list of the EAG members here: https://dri.ie/expert-advisory-group

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
