The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) wishes the (Digital Preservation Coalition) DPC a happy anniversary.
The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and as a proud member, the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) joins in sending both congratulations, and thanks for the important role that DPC plays in the world. Founded in 2022 with 19 members from the UK and Ireland, the DPC now has 125 organisational members from five continents around the world. The DPC’s mission is to enable its members to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services, helping them to derive enduring value from digital assets and raising awareness of the strategic, cultural, and technological challenges they face. While DPC is a membership-focused organisation, it also plays a crucial role in advancing digital preservation policy, practice, knowledge, and advocacy across all sectors internationally.
To mark the anniversary, DPC held an online ‘party’ on 25 Feb 2022, with reflections on the progress made and challenges remaining in digital preservation since its foundation in 2002. The 20th anniversary video is available below:
Happy Anniversary, DPC! Thank you for helping us all to improve digital preservation.
