Call for nominations for the DRI Board

The Royal Irish Academy is seeking expressions of interest from DRI Members to serve on the Digital Repository of Ireland’s (DRI) new Board.

 

The Royal Irish Academy is seeking expressions of interest from DRI Members to serve on the Digital Repository of Ireland’s (DRI) new Board. Any staff member from a DRI Member institution is eligible to nominate themselves for consideration for appointment (see list of Members below). There is no limit on the number of nominations per institution.

Board members serve 3-year terms; and cannot serve more than 2 consecutive terms. There shall be no more than 1 Board member per DRI member organisation. The Board is expected to meet at miniumum twice per annum. Appointments to the Board will be approved by the Executive Committee of the Royal Irish Academy.

Purpose of the Board

Provide guidance to the DRI Director on the strategic direction of the DRI

Support and evaluate the DRI Director in furthering the goals of DRI

Provide oversight of DRI’s financial status with a view to long-term sustainability

Support and enhance the public standing of the DRI, and facilitate the recruitment of new members

Promote the highest standard of corporate governance, ensuring transparency, ethical integrity, and accountability

Operate in the best interests of the DRI

Criteria for Appointment

Board members are generally expected to demonstrate:

Experience with good corporate governance

Experience in developing and executing organisational vision and business plans

An understanding of issues relevant to one or more of the following areas: digital preservation, digital archiving, research data management, digital social/cultural heritage, digital humanities, European e-Research infrastructures

Significant experience across Ireland’s Higher Education and/or Cultural Sectors

Significant expertise in raising funds through research grants, philanthropy, or industry
