Dr Derek Greene, Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Science, University College Dublin, and a Funded Investigator at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics and the VistaMilk SFI Research Centre,  discussed the collaboration between the Insight Centre at UCD, the UCD School of English, and the British Library focused on applying these innovative methods on the representation of social themes in 19th century British and Irish texts. The work is particularly important in the context of the growing collaboration between data science and disciplines like the Digital Humanities, the emergence of cultural analytics and new research methods born from applying advanced data science techniques to diverse literary sources to generate new knowledge.

The lecture was open to all and particularly to humanities and social science researchers, data practitioners and information professionals.

The ‘Meet the Experts’ series invites national and international speakers to present topics of relevance and interest to different stakeholders and audiences.
