October’s DRI Virtual Coffee Morning will take place on Wednesday 19 October at 10.00am for half an hour. The coffee morning will be hosted by Keith Lilley (Queen’s University Belfast) and Zenobie Garrett (University of Limerick) from the OS200 project. OS200 will gather historic Ordnance Survey (OS) maps and texts to form a single freely accessible online resource for academic and public use. The project will not only preserve these digitised assets together in one location for the first time by ingesting them into the Repository, but will also use the Repository’s mapping resources, and collection arrangement in groundbreaking ways to create new ways for people to ‘reconnect’ with ‘the First Edition Six-Inch Maps with the OS Memoirs, Letters and Name Books’.
OS200 is a 3-year project is jointly funded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), part of a €6.5m programme of research bringing together world-leading expertise in the digital humanities across the UK and Ireland.
The DRI Virtual Coffee Mornings are a place for DRI’s staff and members to come together and discuss digital preservation topics, challenges, or projects in a relaxed environment. If you’d like to host a coffee morning please email members@dri.ie
