The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) hosts monthly Virtual Coffee Mornings to provide DRI members with a forum to contribute to a conversation about digital preservation topics, challenges, or projects in a relaxed environment.
March’s Virtual Coffee Morning takes place on Wednesday 30 March at 10.00 am for half an hour and will be hosted by Joe Lee and is an opportunity to hear from our Community Archives. Joe Lee Community Films was one of our 2021 Community Archive Scheme winners. Joe ingested his collection in 2021 and he will share his experience of archiving material with the DRI as a documentary filmmaker and a community organisation. Joe is a Dublin native and NCAD graduate. His work includes TV documentary and drama, public art projects, video installations and photomontage work for exhibition, arts documentation projects for Irish National Cultural Institutions, information and promotional projects for a wide range of organisations working in the social economy. You can find Joe’s Collections in DRI here and you can find out more about Joe’s wider work on his website here. This is also an opportunity to welcome 2022’s two Community Archive Scheme winners- Tulsk and Bray Arts and to hear about their collections. DRI’s Education and Outreach Manager, Deborah Thorpe, will also be on hand to speak about some of our upcoming training.
This coffee morning will be of particular interest to community groups and archivists. It will take the format of a q&a so please bring along your questions.
The DRI Virtual Coffee Mornings are a place for DRI’s staff and members to come together and discuss digital preservation topics, challenges, or projects in a relaxed environment. If there is a particular topic you would like to see covered at a future session or you would like to host a session, please email members@dri.ie
