Profile

Professor Linda Connolly is the Maynooth University representative on the DRI Management Team. She joined the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute as Director in July 2016. Her research interests are in the arenas of Irish gender history, Irish Studies, Irish feminism,  family, gender, sexualities and social movements. Her books include The Irish Women’s Movement: From Revolution to Devolution, The ‘Irish’ Family, Documenting Irish Feminisms, Social Movements and Ireland and Women and the Irish Revolution.

In recent work, she has explored gender based violence in the Irish Revolution and the practice of ‘remembering’ the past through the lens of women’s lives, including the tension between tradition and modernity that infuses contemporary Ireland and the commemoration of votes for women in 2018. 

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
