The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is pleased to highlight resources developed by Europeana and CODATA (the Committee on Data of the International Science Council) that would be of interest to cultural heritage professionals working with digital material.

The Europeana Rights Labelling Task Force aims to help people working in cultural heritage institutions to identify copyright and neighbouring rights in their collections and select the correct rights statements when making their collections available online. The Task Force recently published a helpful guide that explains, step-by-step, how to answer copyright questions directly related to accurately labelling digital cultural heritage data. The guide also aims to equip people with the necessary tools and knowledge to develop an interactive decision-making tool. Visit the Europeana website to learn more and to download the guide.

Those looking to enhance the quality of their data may wish to access a webinar on 'Data Cleaning Skills', which was recently published by CODATA. As the webinar organisers state, '[d]ata cleaning might seem dull and uninteresting, but it’s one of the most important tasks you have to do as a data science professional' as removing or replacing inaccurate or 'dirty data' improves the reliability of response data, contributes to better data analysis, and improves overall productivity. Visit the CODATA website to watch the webinar recording and access the presentation slides from the expert speakers.
