We are pleased to announce that Dr Deborah Thorpe has joined the DRI team as Education and Outreach Manager.
Dr Thorpe comes to us with a humanities research background: she has published in the fields of medieval studies, palaeography, and the medical humanities. She has a particular interest in the interdisciplinary humanities, especially research that creates unusual synergies between disciplinary approaches. She has held research fellowships at various libraries and museums including the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the British Library in London, and the Huntington Library in California.
Her most recent position prior to joining DRI was as Training and Education Officer for DARIAH-EU. Before that, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Fellow at Trinity College Dublin’s Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute.
Dr Thorpe commented on her appointment:
I am thrilled to take up this new role, which blends my interest in material culture with a growing involvement in digital preservation and research data management. In terms of the upcoming months, I’m particularly looking forward to the Digital Preservation for the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (DPASSH) conference in December and in the meantime am getting stuck in to the varied and fascinating content that has been deposited in the repository.
