New DRI publications – our Format Watch Report and updated File Formats factsheet.
Two new publications now available on our DRI Publications collection!
Our Format Watch Report is the results of a format review we carried out in July 2018. The file formats in the repository were identified and for each file type and various registries were consulted to determine their sustainability and preservability. Formats reviewed include images, documents, moving image and audio files types.
The DRI Factsheet on File Formats has been updated to add information on a wider range of AV formats. Factsheet No.3 version 5 (November 2018) includes updated information about audiovisual file formats suitable for long-term preservation, recommendations for institutional policies on safeguarding audiovisual collections, and information about Matroska as a preservation format.
