The Digital Repository of Ireland is pleased to welcome Arts in Education Research Repository as our newest member!
The Arts in Education Research Repository (AiERR) is an association of institutions committed to upholding the principles of the Arts in Education Charter, promoting Arts Education and Arts in Education Research. The AiERR has joined DRI as a member in order to securely deposit archive materials relating to arts in education in a trusted digital repository. Chaired by a Steering Group representing over 10 cultural and educational institutions, the AiERR intends to facilitate long-term preservation of arts in education content from a broad range of backgrounds.
'We are very pleased to have the Arts in Education Charter as our newest member, and look forward to assisting the Charter in achieving its goal of developing a National Arts in Education Research Repository” said Dr. Natalie Harrower, Director of the Digital Repository of Ireland. “Research in the Arts is rich and varied, and provides a wealth of inspiration for further creative work, both scholarly and applied. We are excited to be the preservation stewards of such a unique and important resource”
Also commenting on the new membership, Katie Sweeney, National Director for the Integration of Arts in Education said,
“One of the objectives of the Arts in Education Charter, which was jointly launched by the Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in 2012, was the establishment and development of a National Arts in Education Research Repository. A National Research Repository for Arts Education Research is essential to provide visibility for the discipline area and provide accessibility and open access to and preservation of research data in the field. This resource in Ireland is also essential to comply with and meet the needs of funders in this research area – from both a national and international perspective.”
