July’s coffee morning will take place on Wednesday 27 of July at 10.00 am for forty-five minutes. This extended coffee morning will be hosted by DRI members Joe Lee (Joe Lee Community Films) and Emma Bowell (Cork Community Media Hub) who will be discussing the digital preservation of audio-visual material. The coffee morning will explore changing media and how it has altered their practice, archiving media format, current and future uses of their documentaries and working with community groups to document their work. This coffee morning will be chaired by Kieran O’Leary, Digital Preservation Manager with the National Library of Ireland (and formerly the Irish Film Archive). This coffee morning is an opportunity to explore the unique considerations of archiving and preserving audio-visual material and to hear from three practitioners who have worked with, and archived, this medium.
The DRI Virtual Coffee Mornings are a place for DRI’s staff and members to come together and discuss digital preservation topics, challenges, or projects in a relaxed environment.
