A digital preservation policy is a foundational document for any digital preservation program, expressing the set of principles which will guide the organisation in the way it approaches preservation activities and responsibilities. It can support advocacy, decision-making, strategy development, and the development of procedures and documentation.
In this session we will examine what makes a good digital preservation policy, how your policy will be influenced by your own organisational context, the steps you should work through to develop a policy, and how to maintain and update it over time.
This workshop will be given by the Digital Preservation Coalition
By the end of the session learners will be able to:
• Explain why a digital preservation policy is important in their context
• Identify key elements they should include in their digital preservation policy
• Begin drafting a digital preservation policy document, following recommended steps
This workshop is open to individuals from Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) member organisations, please note that there are limited places.
