The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is pleased to welcome two new members to the DRI Board – Waterford City and County Archivist, Joanne Rothwell and Discovery Programme Technology Manager, Anthony Corns.
Joanne Rothwell was appointed Waterford county archivist in October 1998. Since the merger of Waterford City and County Councils in 2014, she has served as the Waterford city and county Archivist. She served as training officer with the Society of Archivists, Ireland (now Archives and Records Association, Ireland) 2001-2004 and was involved in organising conferences on records management, electronic records, and legislation and litigation. She is currently chair of the Irish Archives Resource, an online portal to archival collection descriptions.
Anthony Corns has been the technology manager for the Discovery Programme for the past twenty-three years and is responsible for the management of the applied technology research, including: project management, 3D data capture at a range of levels (aerial lidar, terrestrial scanning, close range scanning, SfM), GIS for cultural heritage, dataset management and archiving, metadata, promotion and dissemination of the use of technology within cultural heritage. Anthony is currently chairman of the European CARARE (Connecting Archaeology and Architecture to Europe) Network, one of the domain aggregators for Europeana.
The DRI Board fosters the long-term success of the DRI through encouraging the highest standard of corporate governance and accountability, providing guidance to the DRI Director on the strategic direction of the Repository with a view to the DRI’s long-term sustainability, and monitoring progress towards strategic goals and key performance indicators.
