The Archives and Records Association (Ireland) and the Digital Repository of Ireland present: Introduction to EAD Workshop.

On Wednesday 9 March, the Archives and Records Association (Ireland) and the Digital Repository of Ireland host a one-day workshop provinding an introduction to Encoded Archival Description (EAD). EAD is a standard used internationally for encoding archival finding aids. The standard is widely used for publishing archival finding aids online and for the sharing and re-use of archival metadata. This workshop aims to provide attendees with an introduction to the process of making archival finding aids available using EAD. Attendees will learn how to create EAD records using XML, learn about the possible applications of EAD and be introduced to some of the tools available for creating, sharing and publishing EAD records. The workshop will also include descriptions and a demonstration of how EAD can be shared through the Digital Repository of Ireland’s platform.

The workshop is open to ARA(I) members, with a limited number of places available for nonmembers. It is free but registration is required, and lunch will be provided. It takes place from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm, and will be followed by the ARA(I) AGM.
