Open Access publishing talk in Science Gallery Dublin

“Curing the Pathologies of Academic Publishing” with Mike Eisen, is a lunchtime event organised by Trinity’s Open Scholarship Taskforce and Science Gallery Dublin on April 26th from 12-2pm in Science Gallery Dublin’s Paccar Theatre.

Internationally renowned Open Access advocate and UC Berkeley’s, Prof. Michael Eisen will deliver a talk titled ‘Curing the Pathologies of Academic Publishing’. Mike is co-founder of the Public Library of Science (PLOS) and the new Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Open Access Journal eLife. He will speak about his experience and what he envisions the future of Academia and Academic Publishing will look like before taking questions from attendees. Mike will give a talk about his background, of how research culture can be an obstacle to embracing Open Scholarship, as well as his role as Editor-in-Chief of a successful Open Access Journal. This will be followed by Librarian and College Archivist Ms. Helen Shenton ‘In conversation’ with Mike Eisen before opening to the audience for questions.
