The Research Data Alliance (RDA) is calling for new collaboration projects for 2017.

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) has just launched the second Call for Collaboration Projects to support communities that want to test or adopt RDA outputs. These outputs can be spread across the various working and interest groups of RDA.

RDA Collaboration Projects should be short and focused activities with concrete results to be produced within a 6 month time frame. Collaboration Projects will receive a €15,000  grant for carrying out these activities.

A number of conditions must be satisfied for collaboration projects:

  • The collaboration partners must demonstrate that there is appropriate co-funding (e.g. person effort, in-kind, etc. matching the required funds from RDA).
  • Added value in improving data sharing and re-use and thus an alignment with the RDA goals and principles must be clearly illustrated.
  • Project coordination & supervision will be jointly carried out between an RDA expert and a senior expert from the collaboration partner.
  • The senior expert from the collaboration partner should be available to participate in a related RDA workshop as an expert.
  • Collaboration partners must give feedback to the RDA global processes, i.e. give feedback to the corresponding RDA groups via RDA internal communication tools.

For more information visit the RDA website. The deadline for submitting applications is 30 September, 2016.

DRI Director Dr. Natalie Harrower is on the RDA Europe Board of Directors and our Digital Archivist Rebecca Grant is the European co-chair of the Archives and Records Professionals for Research Data Interest Group.

DRI are also co-organising a RDA workshop,  at the Digital Humanities 2016 conference in July. The workshop, 'Evaluating Research Data Infrastructure Components and Engaging in their Development' will conduct a meaningful examination of the data fabric and infrastructure components being defined by the Research Data Alliance. Bursaries are available for digital humanities scholars to attend the workshop, click here for details.

Tá DRI maoinithe ag an Roinn Breisoideachais agus Ardoideachais, Taighde, Nuálaíochta agus Eolaíochta tríd an Údarás um Ard-Oideachas (HEA) agus tríd an gComhairle um Thaighde in Éirinn (IRC).

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
