DRI Welcomes New Membership Manager

Submitted on 12th April 2023

We are pleased to welcome Dr Maeve O’Brien to the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) team based at the Royal Irish Academy (RIA).

Maeve has been appointed as the membership manager for the DRI. In this role, she will be responsible for managing DRI’s membership programme, now in its fifth year. Through our membership programme, we provide stewardship of digital data from higher education institutions, cultural heritage institutions (the GLAM sector of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums), government agencies, county councils, and community archives. Since the DRI launched its membership model in 2018, almost 50 member organisations have joined, making the management of member relations key to DRI’s operations and deliverables. The membership manager provides support to members, identifying potential new members or areas for growth, managing membership administration, and building capacity in DRI’s membership offerings.

Maeve’s previous work includes postdoctoral posts held at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), University College Dublin (UCD), and Ulster University – where she worked in the fields of medical humanities, archives and cultural policy. Additionally, Maeve has significant experience developing policy and ethics frameworks, as well as managing multiple complex and sensitive programmes – in particular working with a variety of stakeholders in areas of high trauma including medical stigma, conflict resolution and peacebuilding in Northern Ireland. A member of the PPI Ignite Network, Maeve is passionate about incorporating empathy-informed, bottom-up approaches to her work and believes this praxis is integral to relationship building.

We look forward to working with Maeve to support our growing number of members.
