The RDA 8th Plenary will take place in Denver, Colorado, from 15-17 September
The Research Data Alliance (RDA) builds the social and technical bridges that enable open sharing of data. The RDA vision is researchers and innovators openly sharing data across technologies, disciplines, and countries to address the grand challenges of society. The goal of RDA is to accelerate international data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange. This is achieved through the development, adoption, and deployment of infrastructure, policy, practice, standards, and other deliverables. The emphasis of RDA is adoption and deployment as the result of focused, short-term effort
The Research Data Alliance holds its plenary meeting every six months in a different region around the world. These three-day working meetings bring together a unique community of data scientists, librarians, computer and domain researchers, policy makers and strategists to meet and discuss concrete actions and plans. The 8th Plenary will take place in Denver, Colorado and will comprise part of International Data Week (11-17 September).
DRI are closely involved in RDA via RDA Europe, the European plug-in to the Research Data Alliance. RDA 3 is the third phase of RDA Europe, and DRI are partners in this phase via an Horizon 2020 Coordinating and Support Activity (CSA) grant. Our Director Dr. Natalie Harrower is on the Board of Directors and our Digital Archivist Rebecca Grant is the European co-chair of the Archives and Records Professionals for Research Data Interest Group.
Early-bird registration for the conference is available until 8 August 2016. To register, go to: http://www.internationaldataweek.org/content/8th-research-data-alliance-plenary-meeting
