Welcome to DRI's new series of Knowledge Sharing Sessions! This series of one-hour sessions are designed to focus on particular areas of interest in the world of digital preservation. We're taking this opportunity to share what we've learned from working with our members to those currently working in digital preservation in Ireland, with the intention of helping tease out some of the thornier issues that come up for those working with digital collections.
The first of these sessions, on the topic of Orphan Works, takes place on 7 November 2017 in the Royal Irish Academy and will be presented by Kevin Long, Digital Archivist at DRI. Kevin will discuss the issue of orphan works (objects with no known rights holder) in digital collections, the process of registering them with the Patents Office and the 2012 EU Directive on Orphan Works.
Attendance is free but registration is required, register here.
