Grant recommendation summary for grantee application G-10508 by the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation

Context

The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation is a non-governmental charitable organisation located in the Republic of Ireland. Their goal is to promote peace and reconciliation within and between communities through facilitated dialogue and learning. The organisation was founded in 1974 as a response to violent conflict in Ireland and in light of a conviction that non-violent solutions must be pursued to encourage reconciliation within and between communities. The organisation assists in the building of improbable relationships by providing the space for difficult conversations to take place.

In 2002, the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation was given €110,000 for a project titled Victims and Combatants Network Building Project with the purpose to support the organisations to bring victims of and ex-combatants in the political violence in Northern Ireland together in a healing process.
