This forty-eight-minute long oral history interview was conducted by the Digital Repository of Ireland as part of The Atlantic Philanthropies archive project (2017-2020) titled Amplifying change: A history of the Atlantic Philanthropies on the island of Ireland in 2018., In this interview, Kieran Rose describes his background in Cork, the founding and early days of GLEN in 1988, and the social history of Gay rights in Ireland between 1988-2016. He describes the struggle to achieve human rights and describes the impact of the support from The Atlantic Philanthropies. Kieran details the achievements of GLEN in the areas of advocacy and awareness-raising for civil partnership and Marriage Equality., and This recording contains the personal views of the participants, they do not reflect the views of the DRI.
