Context

Madeleine Clarke is the founder and leader of Genio, a European organisation based in Ireland working with philanthropy and the public sector at national and EU levels with the vision of a society that benefits by valuing all its citizens. Prior to establishing Genio, Madeleine has held several leadership roles as a professional psychologist, manager and consultant to philanthropic, government and social service providing organisations.

Description:
This sixty-nine-minute long oral history interview was conducted by the Digital Repository of Ireland as part of The Atlantic Philanthropies archive project (2017-2020) titled Amplifying change: A history of the Atlantic Philanthropies on the island of Ireland in 2019., Madeline outlines her previous work with the Children's Rights Alliance in Ireland. She explains how her research into institutional living conditions for people with disabilities in Ireland has led to the partnership of Genio, The Atlantic Philanthropies and the Department of Health to improve conditions by supporting the move of people with disabilities towards independent living., and This recording contains the personal views of the participants, they do not reflect the views of the DRI.
