Context

Ian White is a co-founder and former chief executive as well as international and political programme director of the Glencree centre for peace and reconciliation. He was working with the centre from 1994 to 2014 and continues to specialise in the management of conflict in international contexts.

Description:
This eighty-nine-minute long oral history interview was conducted by the Digital Repository of Ireland as part of The Atlantic Philanthropies archive project (2017-2020) titled Amplifying change: A history of the Atlantic Philanthropies on the island of Ireland in 2019., Ian White describes his family background in Belfast and talks about his move to Dublin in the 1970s. He talks about founding the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and how funding from The Atlantic Philanthropies has enabled him to create political dialogue workshops with all political parties on the island of Ireland at the centre. He talks about the workshop facilitator Geoffrey Corry and describes the methods and skills employed in these workshops., and This recording contains the personal views of the participants, they do not reflect the views of the DRI.
