Context

In 2012, the University of Limerick Foundation was given €15,850,000 for a project titled The Bernal Project Phase 2 - Capital Component. With this funding, the foundation was to enable the University of Limerick to strengthen the areas of applied science and engineering by constructing a fully equipped, applied science and engineering laboratory building. This grant forms part of a larger initiative, the Bernal Project, which is being brought forward in three phases and which comprises a science and engineering building and ten science and engineering professorial chairs.
