Final report by Transgender Equality Network [TENI] for grant 18066 in 2013

Context

Transgender Equality Network Ireland [TENI] is a non-profit organisation that seeks to improve conditions and advance the rights and equality of trans people and their families. The organisation’s vision is an Ireland where trans people are understood, accepted and respected, and can participate fully in all aspects of Irish society. TENI has dedicated its resources to the ending of transphobia, including stigma, discrimination and inequality and continues to work for social, political and legal recognition of trans people in Ireland since 2006.

In 2009 the Transgender Equality Network [TENI] of Ireland were awarded €450,000 to support the development of an active and sustainable organisation to advocate for the needs and greater legal protections of transgendered people in Ireland. The grant is titled Building Sustainable LGBT Communities and is intended to be core support for TENI. Gradually released over a three year period, the funding was to support the development of an active and sustainable organisation to advocate for the needs and greater legal protections of transgendered people.

Description:
The sixteen-page long document was produced by TENI. It includes an introduction to the Building Sustainable LGBT Communities programme and details short, medium and long term outcomes. This is followed by a description of activities and accomplishments of the project and a section on achievements regarding education and capacity building. The report finalises by detailing the organisational development including evaluation and sustainability of the programme as well as lessons learned.
