Applications are invited for the post of Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) Project Digital Photographer - Digital Resources & Imaging Services at the Trinity College Library Dublin. The appointee will join the Digital Resources and Imaging Services Team and be responsible for the digitisation of specific Library collections assigned to the Digital Repository of Ireland Demonstrator project. Imaging/photography activities will take place using a variety of digital capture software and hardware to relevant archive standards including preservation standards.

Applicants should have at least one years’ experience as a Digital Photographer working in the digitisation of library, archives, museum collections, or other similar technical spaces. Proven experience working in a fast paced digital capture, or technical photographic studio environment is required, as is experience in the use of digital photographic equipment (35mm digital and multi-shot digital medium format), and scanning systems (flatbed and dedicated book scanning systems). A high level of technical competence and functional experience will be necessary for the capture, management and post processing of high-resolution digital images.

Applications are invited for the post of Digital Repository of Ireland Project Metadata Cataloguer - Digital Resources & Imaging Services (DRIS) at the Trinity College Library Dublin. The person appointed will join the Digital Resources and Imaging Services team and will be responsible for all activities relating to the creation of project content metadata (original and complex copy) and its input into associated repositories, and for all Library and Manuscripts collections assigned to the Digital Repository of Ireland Demonstrator project. Metadata creation will occur to a variety of standards including but not limited to Dublin Core and MODS, with the likely introduction of additional standards as defined by the Digital Repository of Ireland project. As part of the cataloguing activity, copyright research will need to be completed to verify the legal status of the project content.

Applicants should have a good honours degree and a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Studies, together with expertise in international standards for bibliographic description and authority control. The appointee will have an excellent knowledge of such topics as metadata schema, metadata interoperability and the emerging RDA standard. The successful candidate will be comfortable initiating independent research to verify copyright status of orphan work and recognised documents and publications when necessary.

Post Summary:

High Performance & Research Computing (HPRC) seeks to appoint a Systems and Storage Developer to join the team. This person will develop and deploy advanced IT systems as part of the Digital Repository of Ireland
(DRI) HEA PRLTI funded project.

The appointee will be responsible for the design, deployment and management of distributed storage infrastructure. S/he will have in particular, the following specific duties:

Developing storage layer tools including:

* Replication, snapshots.
* Hierarchical storage management.
* Trusted high speed communications between storage sites.
* Data life cycle management, resilience and disaster recovery.
* Optimisation for different data formats and object sizes.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an other technical discipline. S/he will have
two years experience in Unix/Linux systems administration and one years experience in a software development environment, would be an advantage.
