Date

26th Nov 2015

The public launch in Cork of the Letters of 1916 project will take place on Thursday 26 November.

Thursday 26 November sees the Cork launch of DRI partner project Letters of 1916.

The Letters of 1916 project is the first public humanities project in Ireland. It is creating a crowd-sourced digital collection of letters written around the time of the Easter Rising (1 November 1915 – 31 October 1916).

The Cork launch will feature demo and DIY sessions, allowing attendees to observe and participate in the process of digitising and transcribing historical letters. There will also be a collection event, where members of the public can bring their own 1916 letters in to the team. There will be pop-up talks, a lesson plan session for second level teachers and an evening reception. It is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.

DRI is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) via the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).
