Kevin Long is DRI's Digital Archivist. Previously, Kevin worked as Digital Data Curator on DRI’s Inspiring Ireland 1916 project, where he prepared exciting digital cultural heritage objects for preservation and exhibition, and helped to run Public Memorabilia Collection Days, which gathered and digitised 1916-related material from members of the public. He also worked on the ground-breaking Department of Foreign-Affairs sponsored project  ‘Frongoch & 1916: Recreating a Lost Landscape’, undertaken in collaboration with the National Museum of Ireland, National Library of Ireland, National Library Wales and the National Museum of Wales.

Kevin is a professional librarian with a background in broadcast media archives and post production, and has previously worked for BBC Archives and the Irish Film Archive. He has extensive experience in the digital media environment, having worked as the archivist for various BBC Factual TV departments during the transition to file based delivery. He contributes knowledge of various asset management systems and cataloging standards, digital collection building and workflow design for digital archiving processes.
