The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) invites its members to participate in a webinar with the PERICLES project on Wednesday 17th February from 2 - 3pm.
Promoting and Enhancing Reuse of Information throughout the Content Lifecycle taking account of Evolving Semantics (PERICLES) is an EU-funded project focused on digital preservation. It focuses particularly on two domains: digital artworks from Tate Britain's collections and archives, and experimental scientific data originating from the European Space Agency and International Space Station. PERICLES aims to develop tools that will ensure the long-term availability of digital information and challenge digital obsolescence.
The webinar provides an introduction to two tools already developed by the PERICLES project, the PET and the PeriCAT. These were needed early on for substantiating and informing other more complex components of the project. However, they are also effective as stand-alone tools, applicable both for preservation and other purposes.
The session will give an overview of the PERICLES project, knowledge of the relevant documentation, and a basic understanding of the tools and their use cases. The webinar is open to all DPC members; registration is not necessary but a place can be reserved by email. For further details visit the DPC website.
